Part 2...The Trips and the kiss...on the cheek

So we head out from the school over to breakfast. We ate at Ott's Restaurant...now to most of you that will mean nothing but to ME...it was everything. My Grandfather ate at this place...along with my Dad and now here I was as an adult eating at the SAME PLACE in the same little town I grew up in...and I was with my new found "friend" Eric to boot!!! Life was GOOD.
We ate and he even bought me a T-shirt(the red one on the right). I was VERY excited about the shirt. I love goodies. AND we saw a guy in the MOST disturbing mullet... This guy is all business in the Front...and PAR-TAY in the back!!
And then we were off to Davenport. The tour was over but the memories would not soon fade. They still haven't. While in Davenport, Eric showed me the sights and took me to see the Eagles. I have pics...I will add them later. We saw the John Deere Museum, a CONFEDERATE cemetery, Old War Vehicles, and the Locks of the waterway. Good times...Eric is a great tour guide. And I was beginning to see that I could spend endless amounts of time with him...and not get bored...or tired of his company...and I knew it was a good thing...even if he DID keep spouting off the Friend word!
He also took me with him over to his Ex-Girlfriends house...his RECENT ex-GF. Hello Awkward come on in! I have to say this about her though. She was extremely kind and gracious throughout the whole situation. She is a great example to me of grace under pressure. And let's face it, it could have been a very rough time, but it wasn't...and I credit her for that. And for that I am grateful.
We stayed in this great little cottage guest house of some of Eric's friends. They fed us and gave us the run of the place. GREAT PEOPLE. The first night we were there Eric and I were in the living room watching TV and I reached over and kissed him on the cheek and told him thanks for taking me to my home town. It really meant a lot to me. He smiled and asked me what the date was...I told him and asked why...and he said...I took you 2 weeks. 2 weeks for what I asked...FORGETTING that he had told me 2 weeks previous that I would have to kiss him first...to which I had said no way! And then I ended up kissing him first! ARG!! But in MY defense, Eric did have to take me half way across the country, show me my old homeplace, elementary school, get a tour of the school, talk to the lunch lady AND get me a piece of toast...to earn that kiss...ON THE CHEEK!! That made me smile when he said that. :) Cheesy I know...but I still smile...and I throw up a little bit in my mouth.
So that was the beginning of what would soon be the best thing that happened to both of us.
